About

Ramon’s pursuit of visual arts began in seventh grade in my sketchbook and film photography to capture what he saw or imagined in his “minds eye”. Presently his original imagery, expressed with his “painter’s eye”, results are a fine art level of images skillfully interpreted in a digital environment.

He attended Columbus College Art & Design focused on painting and graphic design prior to his 39-year career at Hallmark Cards Inc.

He is a recognized award-winning member of Summit Art, Wyandotte Camera Club and KC Professional Photographers Association. He is also vice-chair of the Blue Springs Public Art Commission.

Beyond his fine art photography, he is active in educational, consulting, jury/critique, and digital art service roles in the visual arts. Ramon is passionately involved in leadership and non-profit board roles in visual arts organizations.

What inspires you to create?

My minds eye sees and translates images that I want to capture that are representative of fine art. I fulfill my “minds eye” into a fine art image in a completed artistic manner. I further feel each image will connect with most viewers invoking an emotional reaction.

What advice would you give to people looking to express their creativity?

Be not afraid to capture in any medium an expression of your reaction to things you see or imagine. Your most important asset in expressing your creativity is to develop your “minds” eye”.

Hone your skills with the fundamentals and techniques from a variety of resources including other artists. Submit your artwork for critiques while retaining an open mind. Your artwork should be the culmination of all you have learned from each piece and keep learning.

How does your art connect with people?

My fine art images are meant to have impact, focus on the subject, only secondary supporting content, with color/tone creating feelings of space resulting in an emotional reaction.
