Star Beasts is a kick-asteroid middle grade graphic novel about a secret group of pets and animals sworn to protect Earth and spread goodness throughout the universe. Published by Onipress, Star Beasts was released in 2020 and can be found anywhere books are sold! We’ll also have fun Star Beasts merch like totes, decals, pins, and even fun freebies for kids.

What inspires you to create?

Our pets! We created Star Beasts because we love the idea of our pets secretly blasting off into space to protect the planet we love! We also love inspiring kids to make their own comics.

What advice would you give to people looking to express their creativity?

Set a due date for yourself and be brave.

It REALLY helps to work towards a date to keep your project moving.

And as for being brave, don’t be afraid to be creative out of your comfort zone. If you’re a novelist who’s never written comics before or a painter who’s never made pottery–it’s always good to give new mediums a try. You never know what amazing things might happen just by being brave and stretching your creativity in a new direction.

How does your art connect with people?

At comic convention fans often tell us they imagine their own pets going on adventures with our Star Beasts crew! We also get a lot of inspiring artists and writers asking us for advice on world building and how to bring their story ideas to life. We love sharing the fun of creativity with creators of all ages.
