I’ve been an artist for Hallmark for 20 years. I have a passion for screen printing and started my line of Kansas City apparel in my garage 5 years ago. I now own my own building with a retail space and a studio for screen printing. I design and screen print all my shirts by hand. I use the softest and best quality Bella Canvas shirts. I’m always experimenting with new designs that celebrate Kansas city.

What inspires you to create?

Kansas City and it’s surrounding communities have such a vibrant art scene. First Fridays in the Crossroads Art District has expanded to 4th Fridays Art Walk in Lee’s Summit. I find that being surrounded by strong art community inspires me to create. Kansas City has such strong town pride and that inspires me to create product for Kansas City.

What advice would you give to people looking to express their creativity?

Research, research, research. Get inspired by what art has come before you and whats is happening now. Get sketch books and start drawing what inspires you. Don’t be afraid to try new mediums and experiment. Sign up for as may art classes as you can find in school and in your community.

How does your art connect with people?

Kansas City has a lot of town pride and it is unique. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone on vacation and I make a connection with someone because I have a KC shirt on. I think people love this town and they love to show it off. My shirts help them do that in a unique way.
