Hi there! I’m Laura, an illustrator, designer and lettering artist. I’ve always loved working on a range of subject matter, different mediums and unique formats that my multidisciplinary talents could influence. Cut paper is so fun (and a little messy)! I love the challenge of making my lettering come to life with the tone of the quote — my style can be more casual or refined. And my hand bound books are just downright therapeutic to make!

What inspires you to create?

Oh golly. Inspiration tends to come from what I’m immersed in at the time — a season (HELLO SPRING!), my coworkers and the fantastic work they create, or a found color palette. Often enough, whatever project I’m currently working on will inevitably send me down a research rabbit hole and on the other side I’m left with a dozen more things I’ve been inspired from!

What advice would you give to people looking to express their creativity?

Jump on in! The water is fine! Sometimes our fear of taking the plunge keeps us from being our true authentic selves. Creativity is inherent in each and every one of us, in some form — or many! Whatever has peaked your interest, go for it!

How does your art connect with people?

I hope my art could simply bring a smile to a stranger’s face, remind them of a time in their life, or bring to mind a particular person from their circle(s). We all have some shared experiences, interests or hobbies that may connect us, and I love that my art has the opportunity to resonate with others.
