About
I’ve been drawing and painting since I can remember. My mother always encouraged me and always helped me find opportunity to make art. I grew up looking at her fashion illustration on the walls in our home. Someone told me the other day, I “think with a brush”.
What inspires you to create?
Life, people and relationships all inspire me to reflect. That universe of connection between those three things is brimming with life and questions. The new is waiting around every corner to discover. I started painting young and I just keep trying to figure it out.
What advice would you give to people looking to express their creativity?
Creativity isn’t one thing, it’s every thing. Everyone creates, always. When it comes to drawing, painting, sculpting or the uncountable variations of expression, some people seem to be self teachers while others naturally find a teacher. Start with a question and try to find the answer. Ask for help. Pay attention to what stands out to you. It may not be what you were originally looking for but it could be the next clue on your path.
How does your art connect with people?
People are one of my favorite subjects. So mysterious, so fascinating. When success happens it’s always a bit outside myself as if the person or subject or something else participates in the process. I just keep chasing that. The chase always opens a conversation. It’s my favorite part of the process.
