About

My name is Kellie Bloxsom. I’m an artist/designer and live in the Kansas City area with my husband and our two dogs. I love creating art that uses cut paper, collage, mark making and bold color palettes. I love the simplicity of mid-century design and am drawn to create pieces that have an imperfect, simple, honest quality. I am a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute with a BFA in design. I’ve been drawing and making stuff ever since I can remember.

What inspires you to create?

Colors, nature, interior design, fashion. As a painter & designer I’m constantly observing the world around me and filtering what I’m seeing into shapes, composition and color palettes.

What advice would you give to people looking to express their creativity?

Lose your ego and try to just play. When I paint I have to go in with the mindset that none of what I’m making will becoming actual paintings, that I’m just doing it to experiment and that helps me loosen up and paint more freely.

How does your art connect with people?

Most of my art is abstract and I think that people connect to the simplicity and colors of my work.
