The Artsy Fartsy Co.

About
We are “the artsy fartsy company” a mom and daughter who love to create! We do all sorts of things from collages, art prints, embroidery art, even a few t-shirts. Anything that strikes our fancy. We love folk art, trendy stuff, and anything we find that we think is fun. Our day jobs are as designers and our shop is our personal creative outlet. Have fun looking we had fun making.
What inspires you to create?
As a designer/artist I find myself driven by the never-ending desire to create, a desire to create a great piece of work. I love having the freedom to do what I love every day. the world sometimes takes on a life of its own where my imagination is just waiting to come out. I am passionate about what I do, and that has just come naturally for me. Every day I ask myself what should I make today???? Being a designer at Hallmark has been a job of a lifetime. Being exposed to the creative minds and talent of this company has been so important to me. One of the best things (when I was growing up and even today) is when somebody says “you draw pretty” it just makes my day.
What advice would you give to people looking to express their creativity?
If you like the process of creating then CREATE!
Artists create art for themselves and it is their form of communicating with people. My art allows people to connect with me on a different level, a visual level. Art is made for many purposes, and experiencing art is very individual. For me personally it is a way to share beauty, fun or or just an interesting idea that connect with people in general. If you feel the calling to create – “jump in and do it”. My advice is just “do it”.
How does your art connect with people?
I am not really sure how it connects with people but I always find it sparks a conversation. I hear all kinds of fun stories about people when they talk to me about my art. I do want people to look and react, and hopefully relate to what I’ve created. I really like making a connection with people looking at what I have created and if they take a piece home I usually get a story about where they have put it and why.
