Restrictions and Geographical Requirements

The Hallmark Corporate Foundation supports organizations based in and serving citizens of the following communities:

Kansas City metropolitan area
Center, Texas
Columbus, Georgia
Enfield, Connecticut
Lawrence, Kansas
Leavenworth, Kansas
Liberty, Missouri
Metamora, Illinois
Topeka, Kansas

If your organization does not meet this geographic requirement, you are not eligible to apply for support.

Other Restrictions

Before making your application for support, please note the following restrictions on who and what we will support, and our preferences when reviewing requests. Company policy, budget limitations and/or federal law prevent us from providing support to:

• Individuals for any purpose, including travel, starting a business or paying back loans.
• Religious organizations, unless they can demonstrate that services are provided to the community-at-large and funds are separated from religious purposes.
• Fraternal, international and veterans organizations.
• Sports teams and athletic organizations.
• Individual youth clubs, troops, groups or school classrooms.
• Social clubs.
• Disease-specific organizations whose local chapters primarily raise funds for national research.

Organizations otherwise eligible for consideration generally will not be funded for:

• Past operating deficits.
• Endowment or foundation funds.
• Travel and conferences.
• Scholarly or health-related research.
• Scholarship funds.

Additional guidelines:

• We prefer to provide funds directly to an organization for programmatic purposes rather than participate in a fundraising event.
• The Hallmark Corporate Foundation does not engage in sponsorship or marketing opportunities with nonprofit organizations where promotion of the corporate name and identity to potential consumers is of primary consideration.
• We do not fund any proposals for film, television or radio programs.
• We are not able to make contributions of Hallmark products for guest bags, auctions, prizes or other purposes. Hallmark products are contributed through a separate program to selected large organizations on an ongoing basis. At this time, the program is not open to additional recipients.
• Retail merchandise from our Halls department stores in Kansas City is not normally available for charitable donations.
• Furniture, machines, computers and other equipment are not donated directly to nonprofit organizations.
