Work-life balance – easy to say, not so easy to accomplish. Although at Hallmark, we're always looking for ways to lend assistance to employees trying to juggle career with the rest of life:
Child care, elder care, daily life support – Through agencies specializing in a range of everyday services, Hallmark connects employees to options for everything from child or elder care to pet-sitting or someone to wait for the cable installer. A program for care of sick children is available, too.
Educational programs and support groups – Employees can attend Weight Watchers meetings and programs during the work day on topics from parenting to Alzheimer’s disease. Employees grieving a loss, caring for elders, raising a child with disabilities, or supporting loved ones in the military can participate in a range of support groups.
Flexible schedules – Flex-time, part-time, job-sharing, telecommuting and alternative work schedules are options when both employee and business needs allow.
Medical Office – Treatment of work-related and minor personal injuries and illnesses for employees, as well as annual health screenings, educational health seminars, and other resources are available.
Nursing mothers’ rooms – Private lactation rooms allow nursing mothers to return to their jobs while continuing to breastfeed. Hallmark provides some of the necessary equipment (such as electric breast pumps and a refrigerator), and the mothers share scheduling responsibility.
Parental leave – Up to six months of time off is available upon birth or adoption for both male and female employees. Assistance with the cost of adoption is available as well.
“Let’s Do Dinner” – The employee cafeteria prepares salads, sandwiches, main dishes, sides and desserts for employees to purchase and take home for their families.
And more – A fitness center, on-site banking, postal center, support for bus pass purchases and bicycle commuting expenses, and dry cleaning services at headquarters are helpful, too.
