Hallmark Wild Saturday at Kansas City Zoo

Each spring, Hallmark employees volunteer at the Kansas City Zoo, tackling landscaping, painting and other projects to spruce up one of Kansas City's most popular attractions. On Saturday, May 9, 2009, in about three hours, 270 Hallmarkers, family members and friends:

  • Planted 10,000 flowers
  • Spread 40,000 square feet of mulch (nearly a football field)
  • Moved 8,400 pounds of rock (over 4 tons)
  • Assembled and sanded 40 picnic tables
  • Stained 500 yards of fence (over a quarter of a mile)
  • Stained 25 benches (that are now placed throughout the zoo)
  • Painted 28 recycle barrels
  • Decorated 40 stepping stones
