Little Rock, Ark. Woman Wins National Hallmark Greeting Card Competition

Winning card is photo of pet bulldog going “incogcheeto”

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 18, 2009) — Hallmark Cards announces America chose Sara Dykes – a Little Rock, Ark. pub owner – as the winning card creator in the company’s national “yourBloopers” card competition. Dykes beat out 58 other finalists to be named the grand-prize winner.

Hallmark selected Dykes as one of 59 finalists in its national “yourBloopers” card competition in February. Contestants were invited to submit a hilarious photo and witty wish in hopes of turning the creation into a Hallmark card. Dykes’ design, as well as those of the other 58 finalists, was made into a Hallmark greeting card and sold nationwide in stores that carry Hallmark cards and online at www.hallmarkcontests.com.

Dykes’ card features a photo of her bulldog Orson. Ever the patient companion, Orson let Dykes decorate his snout with cheese puffs. The inside reads, “It's your day. You can be as silly as you want! Happy Birthday!”

“Orson is very patient and a big ham,” says Dykes. “He submits to all sorts of harmless indignities for the sake of a photo!”

The competition is Hallmark’s sixth. Consumers submitted photos in January and the 59 finalists were announced in April. People began voting online for their favorite card May 4. Each card purchased also counted as a vote.

Dykes will receive a $2,500 cash prize.
