How to Apply for Contributions or Volunteer Assistance
If your organization meets all of our requirements and relates to the mission of Hallmark's Community Involvement Program, our application process is very simple.
- Initial contact should be by letter. We do not have an application form.
- A two-page letter should be sufficient to briefly describe the mission and programs of your organization and how your request relates to achieving that mission.
- If you have not received support from us previously, enclose a brochure, annual report or other description of the organization.
- Proposals are accepted and reviewed throughout the year. There are no deadlines.
- Allow from four to six weeks for a decision.
- Cash contributions are generally made only once per year to any given organization.
- Volunteer assistance may be requested whenever needed.
When reviewing any request, we look for evidence of the following:
- Charitable status through a 501(c)(3) designation from the Internal Revenue Service or by meeting other requirements as a publicly supported entity. This is required before any request can be given further consideration.
- A strong statement of organizational mission that is consistent with that of our Community Involvement Program.
- Strong organizational leadership and capacity to accomplish what is being proposed.
Requests for volunteer assistance should include a volunteer job description with tasks, time expectations and skills needed. If this is not available, submit a description of the program and what volunteers will be asked to do. We consider the following when deciding what volunteer opportunities to promote to our employees:
- The skills and interests of our employees.
- Our ability to promote the opportunity in a timely and effective manner.
- Capacity of the organization to effectively utilize volunteers.
- What time of day and week volunteers are needed. Most Hallmark employees are available after work hours and on evenings and weekends.
- The number of volunteers being requested.
- How meaningful the volunteer experience will be.
- We will promote opportunities to plan and conduct fundraising activities, but will not recruit volunteers to actually participate in such activities.
